Dark indigo paper under a watercolour night sky, with the eclipse and bryanjeis at the top. Below, two sections on translucent dark veils: privacy, and accessibility.

privacy

This site doesn't use cookies, ask you to sign in, show ads or count visitors. Nothing here knows who you are.

Players from elsewhere

Songs and videos play through SoundCloud and YouTube. Their players load only when you press play; from then on, their own privacy policies apply, and they may set cookies of their own. The fonts come from Google Fonts.

Your settings

If you choose still motion or larger text in the menu, that choice is kept in your own browser so the next page remembers it. It never leaves your device.

Writing to me

If you email me, I keep your message to reply to it, and for nothing else.

accessibility

I want everyone to be able to read, listen to and find their way around this site, whatever device they use and however they use it. It aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. It has not yet been audited by anyone else.

What the site does

  • Every link and button works from a keyboard, and shows where you are. Press / to search; Escape closes anything that is open.
  • The paintings are decoration; each page also describes its picture in words for screen readers, and every piece has a text title.
  • If your device asks for less motion, or you choose still in the menu, nothing moves or loops. Nothing flashes.
  • Text can be made larger from the menu, and the page works when your browser zooms to 200%.
  • Reading text sits on a dark veil, so it keeps its contrast over the painted sky. The main buttons are at least 44 pixels across for fingers.

What is not there yet

  • Some small links (the filter words in portfolio, links inside sentences, the page names on a laptop) are smaller than 44 pixels to tap; they will be enlarged.
  • Headings are set in a brush script, which some readers, including some dyslexic readers, find harder to read. The reading text is a plain serif.
  • Videos rely on YouTube's captions.

If something doesn't work for you

Tell me at me@bryanjeis.me what page and what got in the way. I'll reply within a week and fix what I can.
